Visiting The Old Garden Residential Home

Year 6 visited the residents of the Old Garden Residential Home this week.
Year 6 visited The Old Garden Care Home. The children treated their appreciative audience to some classic wartime songs: There’ll Be Blue Birds Over The White Cliffs of Dover; We’ll Meet Again; Somewhere Over The Rainbow; and finally, a lively version of The Quartermaster’s Stores. The Old Garden, became alive with residents and staff singing along to the uplifting songs of WW2.
The children then joined the residents for a refreshing glass of juice and a well-earned snack of biscuits and fruits. Feeling refreshed, they then enjoyed interacting with the residents, sharing stories of life experience, and developing special bonds. Before long, the residents were asking for the children to perform again. Of course, they happily obliged and created a positive heart-warming vibe.
Our visit was a wonderful way for the children to experience the rewards of helping others. It was also an opportunity for them to connect and form friendly relationships with the residents, which had a positive impact on both the children and the elderly residents.
