Chester Cathedral Christmas tree festival
Avalon children take part in the annual Christmas tree festival at Chester Cathedral
Mrs Bartle and Mrs Roberts took a small tem of Year 6 children to Chester Cathedral to decorate a Christmas tree in the cloisters. Every child from Year 1 – 6 wrote messages on luggage tags which have been tied to the tree, describing their feelings of excitement, the importance of family, happiness and love at this time of year. The children in Reception and Pre-school made glittery salt dough stars which have also been hung from the branches.
If you are in Chester doing some Christmas shopping over the next few weeks, why not drop in and have a look at our tree. There are more than 50 trees lining the cloisters from schools all over Chester and beyond as well as businesses and local organisations. Entrance to the Cathedral is free although there is a recommended donation of £3. You can even vote for our tree and the winning school will win a trip to the new falconry, owned by Chester Cathedral. If you have never been inside Chester Cathedral before, it is well worth a trip and welcomes people of all faiths and none to enjoy the wonderful architecture, dating from around 1250 onwards.
